Job Summary

Manage an electrical engineering team while leading project teams in the design, modification, and analysis of electrical systems for plant retrofits and new generation installations. Supervise engineers on power distribution designs, specification preparation for equipment procurement, and functional design drawings including single line, relay, and schematic diagrams. Review detailed calculations for auxiliary power studies, voltage drop, protective relay settings, and arc flash. Coordinate system design to ensure compliance with codes and client requirements, and interface with vendors to prepare bills of material and equipment specifications. Assist the project manager in delivering projects on time and within budget, performing independent reviews of work and providing mentorship to less experienced engineers. Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and plant sites for construction coordination. Based in Clayton, Missouri, with three days of in-office work per week.

Required Qualifications

  • A BSEE degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program
  • emphasis in power systems
  • PE license
  • Experience managing a team of electrical engineers
  • 15 or more years of experience in power plant or industrial plant design
  • Experience in the selection of equipment, materials, control philosophy, and the preparation and assembling of calculations and specifications
  • Experience with electrical system design including medium and low voltage distribution systems (transformers, generators, motors), communication systems, equipment selection, and analytical calculations
  • Experience performing calculations in ETAP and/or SKM
  • Technically knowledgeable of available electrical power distribution equipment
  • Experience with serving as firm/client liaison in a lead engineering role
  • Experience in reviewing other engineers' design calculations and drawings

Desired Qualifications

  • A BSEE degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program with an emphasis in power systems preferred
  • Technical knowledge and experience with instrumentation and controls engineering
  • Project management and business development experience
  • Construction and start-up experience
