Electrical Engineer

$125,000–$150,000 year

On-siteMontgomery, Alabama, United States

Full TimeSmall

Job Summary

Execute comprehensive electrical design packages from concept through issued-for-construction for federal facilities, including medium-voltage distribution, lighting, and emergency power systems. Perform and seal critical engineering calculations such as short-circuit analysis, arc flash studies, and voltage drop computations using SKM or ETAP software. Act as the lead corporate electrical technical authority for major Design-Build and Design-Bid-Build proposals while providing rigorous independent technical reviews and mentoring junior designers. Serve as the primary technical contact during design review conferences with DoD engineering components and civil agencies. Requires an active Professional Engineer license and 5-10 years of experience on Federal/DoD infrastructure projects.

Required Qualifications

  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in electrical engineering (with the ability to obtain reciprocity in additional states as required)
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of progressive experience working explicitly on Federal/DoD infrastructure and facility projects
  • Proven track record of actually performing physical electrical design work within recent roles (producing calculations, single-line diagrams, layouts, and specifications; not just reviewing the work of junior staff)
  • Deep, practical mastery of Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA standards, and federal sustainable design mandates
  • Expert-level proficiency in electrical engineering design software (e.g., SKM PowerTools, ETAP, AGi32)
  • Advanced production capabilities in AutoCAD and Revit MEP for generating construction documents
  • Thorough understanding of physical security, visual/auditory signaling, and telecommunications infrastructure integration within federal footprints
  • Excellent written communication skills for authoring design narratives, basis-of-design (BOD) documents, and physical condition assessment reports

Desired Qualifications

  • Nice to have qualifications
