Job Summary
Directly manage the Electrical/CAD design team in Oakville, overseeing design, specification, and implementation of electrical systems and control panels. Prepare, review, and approve drawings, bills of materials, and technical documents while ensuring compliance with CSA, UL, NFPA, and IEC standards. Provide engineering support to internal and external clients, participate in design reviews and client meetings, and lead commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical systems. Schedule assignments, monitor performance, and maintain accurate project records. Full-time onsite presence required daily for fabrication team interaction.
Required Qualifications
- Working knowledge with CSA and UL standard, hazardous location classification and requirement
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- Proficiency in electrical design software such as AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, SEE Electrical and/or SOLIDWORKS Electrical
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant industrial working experience with a focus on power systems, control systems and automation
- Full-time onsite presence every day
- Able to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong written, communication skills and the ability to work in a cross-functional team environment
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a strong electrical design background and attention to detail
Desired Qualifications
- PLC programming knowledge and/or experience
- Familiarity with the following codes and standards: Canadian Electrical Code, CSA 22.1, CSA 22.2 No.14, 25, 30, NFPA 70, 496, UL 508, 508A, 698, 698A, Applicable IEC standards for both unclassified area and hazardous area (IEC 60079-0 & 60079-1), ATEX, Low Voltage, EMC directives
- Knowledge of ERP systems used in manufacturing
