Electrical Engineer Lead

Job Summary

Oversee and manage the design and detail engineering activities for industrial electrical equipment, including developing electrical drawings, sizing components, preparing bills of materials, and providing technical support. Directly lead the Electrical/CAD design team in Oakville, delegating assignments, monitoring performance, and guiding career development while collaborating globally to finalize schematics and control system designs. Prepare, review, and approve engineering documentation, ensuring all electrical control panels meet regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and internal quality standards. Participate in client meetings, design reviews, and commissioning activities, responding to inquiries time-sensitively to maintain delivery deadlines. This full-time onsite role requires a Professional Engineer designation and five years of relevant experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Working knowledge with CSA and UL standard, hazardous location classification and requirement
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • Proficiency in electrical design software such as AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, SEE Electrical and/or SOLIDWORKS Electrical
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant industrial working experience with a focus on power systems, control systems and automation
  • Full-time onsite presence every day
  • Able to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong written, communication skills and the ability to work in a cross-functional team environment
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a strong electrical design background and attention to detail

Desired Qualifications

  • PLC programming knowledge and/or experience
  • Familiarity with the following codes and standards: Canadian Electrical Code, CSA 22.1, CSA 22.2 No.14, 25, 30, NFPA 70, 496, UL 508, 508A, 698, 698A, Applicable IEC standards for both unclassified area and hazardous area (IEC 60079-0 & 60079-1), ATEX, Low Voltage, EMC directives
  • Knowledge of ERP systems used in manufacturing
