Job Summary
Electrical Engineer to lead automation and electrical systems at the Laverton Steel Mill site. Responsibilities include supporting maintenance teams, root cause analysis of equipment and process failures, developing project specifications, upgrading or replacing obsolete systems, delivering maintenance and capital projects on time and within cost targets, leading end-to-end automation projects (scoping, design, cost-benefit, contractors/consultants), delivering technical expertise in SCADA/PLC/MES Automation and HMI systems with validation of automation and plant control systems, supporting the cranes department, and promoting a strong safety culture through proactive hazard identification and continuous risk management.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechatronics Engineering or similar
- 3-5+ years engineering experience in an industrial environment
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills with a strong track record in equipment diagnostics and fault finding
- PLC programming and diagnosis (Allen-Bradley regarded)
- SCADA Experience (PlantSCADA / Citect regarded)
- Reading and fault finding with electrical drawings
- AS/NZS 4024 (Safety of machinery)
- SAP S/4HANA
- Industrial Networks
- Motor Control / VSDs
- High-voltage power distribution systems
