Electrical Engineer III - Substation P&C

Job Summary

Design high-voltage substation Protection & Control systems for AIS and GIS substations, preparing and reviewing design drawings including single lines, three lines, DC schematics, communication schematics, and wiring. Develop relay settings and protection philosophy while providing detailed QA/QC for P&C design packages. Ensure all work complies with industry standards including IEEE, NERC, NEC, and NESC, and support project planning, execution, and technical coordination. Provide training to junior engineers and attend FATs, inspections, and site support as needed. Assist with utility coordination and interconnection processes for renewable energy projects including solar, wind, and battery energy storage systems.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or related field
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain
  • 5+ years of experience in power system engineering, substation protection and controls, transmission planning, or renewable energy integration
  • Experience with high-voltage substation P&C design including relays, batteries, chargers, SCADA interfaces, and control panels
  • Familiarity with power system analysis software such as PSSE, ETAP, ASPEN, SKM, or similar tools
  • Experience performing power system studies including load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, and arc flash analysis
  • Working knowledge of industry standards including IEEE, NERC, NEC, and NESC
  • Experience supporting utility coordination and interconnection processes for energy projects preferred
  • Experience with networking devices and communciation configuration
  • Experience with ASPEN
  • Experience with relay settings
  • Ability to manage technical deliverables while supporting project schedules and deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for collaboration and technical documentation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook
