Job Summary
Electrical Engineer III at Pond & Company leads or contributes to the design and support of electrical systems across fueling, energy, and industrial projects. Responsibilities include developing low- and medium-voltage power distribution, grounding/bonding, lighting, motor control, heat trace, and standby power, performing load flow/short circuit/arc flash calculations, creating one-line diagrams, panel schedules, and installation details, and coordinating with mechanical, civil, structural, and I&C teams. The role involves preparing drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical narratives, reviewing vendor submittals, supporting construction activities (RFIs, submittals, site visits, commissioning), and mentoring junior engineers. There is emphasis on adherence to codes and client requirements, interfacing with clients and operators, and contributing to proposal development and project planning. The position requires strong written and verbal communication and experience with tools such as AutoCAD, ETAP, SKM, and related vendor software, with a focus on fueling systems, oil & gas facilities, LNG, aviation fueling, and related energy infrastructure.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
- 6–9 years of professional electrical engineering experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or actively pursuing licensure
- Working knowledge of IEEE standards, API guidelines, and NFPA 70 (NEC)
- Familiarity with NFPA codes including NFPA 101, 407, 497, and 780; IBC familiarity a plus
- Experience supporting electrical design for fueling systems, oil & gas facilities, industrial plants, or energy infrastructure projects
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, ETAP, SKM, and applicable vendor software
- Experience preparing electrical construction drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical narratives
- Ability to collaborate with Electrical CAD Designers and multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Experience interfacing with clients, plant engineers, operators, and contractors under guidance of senior staff
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Electrical Design & Engineering responsibilities (fuel terminals, LNG facilities, oil & gas midstream, aviation fueling systems)
- Develop and support power distribution, grounding and bonding, lighting, motor control, heat trace, standby power systems
- Hazardous area classification reviews and compliant equipment selection and wiring methods
- Apply codes/standards to design deliverables
- Prepare drawings, specifications, calculations, and narratives with senior review
- Load flow, short circuit, coordination, arc flash, voltage drop calculations
- One-line diagrams, panel schedules, load lists, conduit/cable schedules
- Coordinate with mechanical, civil, structural, I&C disciplines
- Controls and instrumentation interfaces (PLC I/O, SCADA)
- Review vendor submittals
- Participation in design reviews and constructability meetings
- RFIs, submittal reviews, site visits, field verifications, commissioning support
- Mentor junior engineers and designers
- Proposal development and project planning
