Job Summary
Provide safe, reliable systems and machines while supporting a 24/7 operation at the Shelbyville, IN manufacturing facility. Write detailed technical specifications, design projects from concept to completion, and coordinate electrical activities to meet timing, quality, and cost targets. Perform hands-on programming, debugging, and troubleshooting of automation equipment including PLCs, robots, and motion control systems. Supervise contractors and conduct equipment training as required. Ensure all equipment and layouts comply with OSHA, RIA, and electrical codes. Core hours are flexible day shift with periodic off-shift and weekend coverage.
Required Qualifications
- Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology degree
- CAD drawing capabilities – AutoCAD
- PLC Programming and Troubleshooting
- 3 - 5 years Electrical Engineering Experience in Manufacturing environment
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs
- Must be available for periodic off-shift, weekend, and holiday coverage
- Must be able to walk, stand, and move throughout the facility for extended periods
- Must be able to climb stairs/platforms
- Must be able to use personal protective equipment (safety glasses, hearing protection, cut-resistant gloves, steel-toed footwear) in designated areas
- Must be able to work in heat (tempering/furnace areas), noise, glass handling, forklift and overhead crane traffic
- Must adhere to NSG/Pilkington Standards of Business Conduct and its Values and Principles
Desired Qualifications
- Robotics Programming and troubleshooting – ABB and Fanuc
- CAD drawing capabilities – AutoCAD and Eplan
- Code understanding to include NEC, NFPA70 and OSHA
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- PLC programming and troubleshooting – Allen Bradley and Texas Instruments
- Motion Control programming and troubleshooting
- Problem Solving skills, motors & controls, and strong computer and network skills
