Job Summary
Design, develop, and test new data capture products for retail, warehouse, and factory applications by performing circuit development, schematic entry, and electrical component selection. Create and test prototypes at the component or circuit level using test equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers to verify design requirements. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to review test results, perform root cause analyses, and make recommendations to enhance performance and productivity. Direct technicians during testing while documenting requirements and results to ISO 9000 standards. Make changes to or upgrade existing electrical designs to apply new solutions. Work 3 days in the Holtsville, NY office and 2 days remotely.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3-days per week in our Holtsville, NY (Long Island) office, 2 days remote (US)
- Works as part of a larger team lead by more senior engineers to design, develop and test new data capture products
- Collaborates closely with a multidisciplinary team including Electrical, Software, Mechanical, Optical and Manufacturing Engineers
- Occasionally interfaces with external partners, vendors and customers
- Reviews test results and performs root cause analyses to identify problems
- Runs tests designed by more experienced engineers
- Seeks out new tools to analyze and solve problems
- Responsible for circuit development and schematic entry
- Performs electrical component selection
- Creates and tests prototypes at the component or circuit level to verify they meet design requirements
- Uses common electrical test equipment such as Oscilloscopes, Digital Multi-meters, Power Supplies, Frequency Generators, Logic analyzers, etc
- Directs and works with technicians to perform testing
- Documents test requirements and results to ISO 9000 standards
- Makes and implements recommendations to immediate team to enhance performance and improve productivity
- Builds productive working relationships internally and externally
- Makes changes to or upgrades existing electrical designs
- Enhances and improves existing technologies to apply to new solutions
- Bachelor's degree and Minimum 2+ years of experience (in Engineering or related technical field)
- Master's degree with Minimum 1+ year of experience
- Electronic Hardware Design Experience
- Experience with common electrical test equipment such as Oscilloscopes, Digital Multi-meters, Power Supplies, etc
Desired Qualifications
- Cadence experience a plus
- Solid understanding of electronics fundamentals
- Knowledge of, or experience with embedded systems a plus
- Ability to understand Embedded Software
- Schematic entry and simulation experience
- Familiarity with fundamentals of PCB layout
- Demonstrated examples as a team player with ability to navigate organizational boundaries
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a high attention to detail
- Ability to communicate technical details or issues clearly and succinctly
