Job Summary

Develop and design advanced vehicle components, wiring, power distribution, and control systems using theoretical principles and engineering techniques. Interface with engineering personnel, internal departments, and external suppliers to determine effective designs and coordinate product development and testing phases. Research state-of-the-art industry developments and apply statistical and programming techniques in conjunction with mathematical analysis. Provide creative, technically feasible solutions while ensuring vehicles meet government regulations and codes. Analyze problems encountered in prototype development and testing with the Test and Validation team. This role manages mechatronics engineering projects to support production and service within the Mechatronics Engineering HMI development team at Daimler Truck North America in Gaffney, SC.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with focus in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Automotive Engineering from an accredited college/university
  • 6 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree
  • Demonstrated teamwork skills, including cross-functional collaboration
  • Understanding of engineering and manufacturing processes & downstream impacts
  • Project Management
  • Microsoft Office (including Microsoft Project)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be legally authorized to work permanently in the country the position is located in at the time of application
  • Must successfully complete a criminal background check
  • Must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen
  • Must be able to work in (or relocate to) Gaffney, SC US
  • Must be able to work onsite

Desired Qualifications

  • 5 years of related experience
  • Experience developing and releasing commercial vehicle electrical systems and controls to production
  • Full understanding of CAN message formatting & network topology requirements for the serial control and communication networks typically used in today's heavy-duty vehicles (CAN)
  • Experience and understanding of medium and heavy-duty commercial vehicle electrical systems, and controls
  • Experience and understanding in automotive infotainment and instrumentation
  • Working knowledge of CAD system electrical workbench
  • Working knowledge of DTNA Engineering Documentation systems
  • Working 3D design experience
