Job Summary
Electrical Engineer supports day-to-day technical and strategic asset management across mine physical assets, collaborating with Maintenance Engineering staff to identify root causes of equipment failures and implement permanent solutions. Performs engineering analyses and maintains knowledge of power distribution and instrumentation systems, facilitates maintenance of switchgear, motors, and their control systems, conducts load and duty-cycle calculations for site electrical infrastructure, specifies and orders equipment for current and future needs, ensures designs meet NEC and site safety standards, manages engineering design consultants on capital projects, oversees tendering, construction, and commissioning of electrical projects, updates electrical drawings, and develops standards/SOPs. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in engineering (or related field) or Journeyman certification with relevant experience, proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office, and mining industry experience preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or a related field with a minimum of 2-3 years in a similar role, or a relevant Journeyman’s certificate with a minimum of 3-5 years in a similar role
- Experience in mining industry preferred
- Must be computer literate and proficient in Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems required
- Proficient in AutoCAD
