Job Summary
Prepare scope, budget, and staff assessments by reviewing client meetings to write electrical design scope of work. Develop engineering studies, schematic designs, and system schematics for new systems while analyzing existing operations. Troubleshoot complex problems involving conflicting design requirements, code issues, and difficult conditions. Research non-routine code issues and obtain official interpretations. Prepare calculations for whole building loads, lighting, power distribution, and equipment sizing, then review contractor cost estimates. Mentor junior staff and ensure all drawings and documents comply with NFPA, IECC, LEED, and ASHRAE standards. Requires a PE license, 12+ years of experience, and Revit software proficiency.
Required Qualifications
- BS or MS degree in electrical engineering
- 12+ years of design experience for a variety of projects (corporate, higher education, or performing arts projects)
- Documented experience providing electrical design to an MEP engineering firm or A/E firm
- PE License
- Extensive knowledge of National Fire Protection Association Codes (NFPA)
- Understanding of applicable (city, state, federal) requirements/pertinent standards
- Knowledge of IECC, LEED and ASHRAE requirements
- Working knowledge of Revit software
- Familiar with electrical analysis software (SKM, Easy Power)
- Knowledge of the current sustainable technologies applicable to the design of commercial electrical systems
- Successful applicants must be authorized to work in the USA without sponsorship
