Job Summary
Electrical Engineer role at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) supporting facility design, operation, and maintenance. Full-time position based in Los Alamos, NM. Responsibilities include performing design engineering tasks, conventional analysis and calculations, developing and reviewing engineering design packages, providing construction, field, and project engineering support, collaborating within a multi-discipline team, applying engineering tools to deliver high-quality work, and interfacing with stakeholders across disciplines in a fast-paced environment. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited) with 3+ years (level 2) or 8+ years (level 3) of experience, U.S. citizenship, ability to obtain a government clearance (Q clearance required for consideration), familiarity with low-power systems and power design, plus experience with DOE/DoD codes, standards, and construction documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Education & Years of Experience – Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited University and 3+ years of relevant experience for level 2 engineer, 8+ years for level 3 engineering role.
- Citizenship – To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work.
- Clearance – To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance. A "Q" clearance will be required for the candidate but it is not required to start the position.
- Familiar with low power, <480. 208 and 120.
- Prior design experience in power.
- Experience with construction documentation and specs.
- Experience mitigating the field.
- Working knowledge of industry, regulatory, and DOE/NNSA codes, standards, and criteria relevant to electrical engineering.
- Proven knowledge of commonly applied codes and standards at DOE and DoD facilities (e.g., NQA‐1, IBC, NFPA, NEC).
- Prior experience facilitating and developing engineering design packages.
- Familiarity with typical engineering deliverables (e.g., construction documents).
- Experience with computer‐aided design/drafting software or markup tools.
