Job Summary
Analyze real-world plant data, laboratory measurements, and electrical test results to support testing and troubleshooting of instrumentation and control systems in nuclear power plants. Perform laboratory and field testing activities, including equipment setup, signal measurement, and data acquisition for commercial services and research projects. Prepare equipment for plant trips by configuring, verifying, and documenting systems before checkout and return to storage. Assist with troubleshooting efforts when equipment or test results do not meet expected criteria, while supporting hardware development through prototype assembly and documentation updates. Draft technical reports, trip reports, and engineering records with close attention to accuracy and adherence to structured workflows. This hands-on role involves work under U.S. Department of Energy contracts, requiring access to nuclear facilities and U.S. citizenship.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related technical discipline
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Interest in hands-on testing, instrumentation, controls, electrical systems, data acquisition, hardware, or applied engineering
- Ability to follow structured engineering procedures and work within a quality-assured environment
- Strong attention to detail in technical documentation, data analysis, test planning, and report preparation
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to travel to customer facilities and nuclear plants as needed
- U.S. citizenship
Desired Qualifications
- Experience or coursework related to instrumentation and controls, circuits, signal processing, electrical measurements, data acquisition, power systems, controls, or hardware development
- Experience with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, data acquisition systems, or similar measurement tools
- Exposure to laboratory testing, field testing, systems integration, nuclear power, aerospace, defense, automotive, manufacturing, or other regulated technical environments
- Experience with prototype assembly, hardware troubleshooting, equipment repair, circuit testing, or hardware documentation
- Familiarity with EMC testing, EMI/RFI troubleshooting, or related standards such as MIL-STD-461 or IEC 61000
- Experience writing technical reports, test procedures, engineering evaluations, or structured documentation
