Job Summary
Design and build high-power electrical systems for new construction projects, including power distribution, switch-gear, lighting, and ground support controls. Provide engineering support for design, operation, and troubleshooting of facility electrical components, ensuring proper interface with mechanical systems and compliance with codes like NFPA 70E and IBC. Coordinate installations with local utilities and review designs to meet applicable regulations. This role requires a Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and 1+ years of experience with power distribution and switchgear. Based in Hawthorne, CA, the position occasionally demands extended hours and weekends.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or other engineering discipline
- 1+ years of professional experience working on electrical projects, power distribution systems, switchgear, UPS's, and/or generators
- Ability to read and understand power and control schematics
- Ability to read and understand highly technical equipment operation and maintenance (O&M) manuals
- Experience with variable frequency drives (VFDs) and industrial pumps
- Experience with controls in MODBUS communication
- Experience with medium voltage distribution
- Experience with control panel design and production
- Working knowledge of power coordination and arc flash
- Ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently
- High level of self-motivation, with the ability to work under minimal supervision
- Good organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize and schedule workload
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- This is not a remote or hybrid position and will require relocation if not already local to the Hawthorne, CA area
- Position occasionally requires the ability to work extended hours and weekends when needed
- Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful permanent resident, Refugee, or Asylee (or eligible for required authorizations)
Desired Qualifications
- 3+ years of years of professional experience in a similar role
- Professional Engineering (PE) license
