Job Summary
Electrical Engineer to support a global packaging manufacturing operation in Richmond, VA, focusing on plant reliability, uptime, and continuous improvement. Responsibilities include providing hands-on electrical engineering support for daily plant operations, troubleshooting complex electrical and automation issues (PLCs, motor control centers, drives, instrumentation, DCS, and industrial networks), collaborating with maintenance, reliability, and operations teams, participating in preventive and predictive maintenance programs, contributing to capital projects and equipment upgrades, coordinating with OEMs/vendors/contractors for installations and commissioning, maintaining electrical documentation, ensuring safety and compliance with electrical codes, and driving initiatives to improve reliability and performance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Industrial Technology, or related field
- 2–5+ years of experience in electrical engineering, maintenance, or reliability within a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Experience in packaging, pulp & paper, or other high-speed process industries strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of electrical power systems, motors, drives, PLCs, and industrial automation systems
- Proven troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills in complex industrial environments
- Familiarity with reliability methodologies, predictive maintenance tools, and maintenance workflows
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, drawings, and technical documentation
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing setting
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices is a plus
- Strong commitment to safety and adherence to electrical standards and best practices
