Job Summary
Conduct electrical engineering design, analysis, equipment selection, and system layout for commercial, higher education, and government facilities. Prepare project programming, schematic designs, and construction documents while coordinating with multi-discipline teams and responding to client directives. Provide support during bidding and construction phases by preparing addenda, answering RFIs, reviewing shop drawings, and representing the firm on-site. Comply with firm quality control policies and department standards. This role requires an EIT designation and ABET-accredited engineering background, with a hybrid schedule of three days in the Virginia Beach office. Pursue Professional Engineer licensure within 12 months of eligibility.
Required Qualifications
- Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.
- Must have graduated from an ABET-accredited 4 or 5-year engineering program in one of the following disciplines: Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering (Electrical Engineering focus), Electrical Engineering Technology, or Architectural Engineering Technology (Electrical Engineering focus)
- Must have earned the designation of EI or EIT in at least one US state, preferably in the local jurisdiction
- Pursuing Professional Engineer licensure (PE) within 12 months of eligibility
- Ability to prepare effective and concise documents and correspondence
- Ability to make presentations to a variety of groups
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment
- Have a can-do attitude with a desire to provide outstanding professional services
- Be dedicated their professional development as well as the success of colleagues and the firm as a whole
- Proficient in MS Office Software
- Proficient in discipline specific design software
- The selected candidate is expected to work in a JMT office location at least three days per week or as needed to perform assigned duties.
Desired Qualifications
- Understanding of sustainable design principles and design practices included in LEED and Well Building standards is encouraged
- Additional certifications such as RCDD, LC, IALD are encouraged to reflect personal growth in the profession and an ever-increasing knowledge base to enhance the design and documentation process
- Active membership in IEEE, IES or other related professional organizations is desirable
