Electrical Engineer Co-Op/Intern - Summer 2027

Job Summary
Lead electrical power system reliability improvement projects, including root cause failure analysis, corrective action execution, and troubleshooting of outages, faults, and equipment failures. Develop and implement new preventative maintenance plans while performing software-based modeling, data collection, and field verification. Collaborate with management, plant operators, engineers, and contractors on relay network expansion and department meetings. This summer 2027 full-time co-op/internship at the Bartow site involves a 9/80 schedule with occasional travel to Florida sites. Housing and relocation are provided for qualified candidates.
Required Qualifications
- Third year level or above by May 2027 pursuing a bachelor's in Electrical Engineering
- 2.7 GPA or higher
- Basic knowledge of electrical theory to include AC distribution and transformation, AC/DC, motor control, power/analog/digital electronics and electromagnetic properties
- Ability to function in an industrial chemical and mining environment
- Reliable transportation and valid driver's license
- Ability to work full time and be a student in standing at the time of the co-op/internship
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Ability to safely perform the essential functions of the job without posing a direct threat to the safety of his or her own self, or the safety of others
- Able to lift approximately 0-25 lbs. occasionally
- Able to climb stairs and work at various heights
- Able to distinguish varying or specific colors, patterns or materials
- Able to hear, with or without correction
- Able to read, write and understand basic English
- Able to see, with or without correction
- Able to use fine hand motor skills
- Able to wear a respirator
- Must be able to effectively lead and coach others
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working in a team environment
- Familiarity with an industrial environment
- Effective verbal communication skills
- Basic computer skills
- 1-2 years of experience volunteering, working with student/school organizations, or work
- Previous internship or co-op experience
- Experience with electrical power system modelling software
