Job Summary
Electrical Engineer Co-op at Apex Order Pickup Solutions in Mason, OH, focused on hardware development for IoT & SaaS-enabled automated smart locker systems. You will support hardware design, 3D CAD modeling, PCB designs, schematics, DFMEA, and production specifications, with rapid prototyping and component validation. The role emphasizes manufacturability, collaboration across teams, and applying digital/analog hardware concepts (Ethernet, serial, processors, memory, power distribution, wireless, image processing). Requires active enrollment in a BS EE/CS-related program, familiarity with CAD tools (SolidWorks, Altium, AutoCAD), and strong communication skills. Preference for hands-on prototype creation, Altium experience, harness and schematic design exposure, low-voltage harness experience, analog/digital circuit theory, WHMA standards, and coding in C/C++/Java/Python; travel is limited and a hybrid in-office schedule in Mason is described. Required Qualifications
- Active enrollment in a B.S. degree program in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent degree field
- Exposure to CAD platforms such as SolidWorks, Altium, AutoCAD, etc.
- Excellent communication & interpersonal skills
- Willingness to learn quickly
- Experience with prototype creation & troubleshooting tools (Multimeter, Oscilloscope, Function Generators, Spectrum Analyzer, Crimping Tools, Soldering Iron, Wire Strippers)
- Exposure to systems schematics, PCB & harness designs
- Exposure to designing & building low voltage harnesses
- Exposure to analog & digital circuit design theory
- Exposure to electrical standards such as WHMA
- Exposure to coding languages such as C, C++, Java, & Python
- Exposure to working with cameras & image sensing
- Exposure to wireless technologies (Bluetooth & WiFi)
