Job Summary
Electrical Engineer responsible for designing electrical power, lighting, and special systems for a variety of commercial building projects. Responsibilities include preparation of electrical production drawings (beginning to end), redline drafting, submittal review, site visits/reviews, RFI responses, PCR reviews, and coordinating information across all disciplines to ensure deliverables comply with client expectations. The role involves design of power distribution, general and special lighting systems, day lighting, lighting control, emergency power systems (including generators and uninterruptible power supplies), and specialty systems such as fire alarm, public address, and sound reinforcement. Will interact with clients, attend meetings, manage others, and mentor junior staff. Requires experience with AutoCAD and Revit MEP and ability to identify applicable codes in project-specific jurisdictions. EIT is required; Texas P.E. license is a plus.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience designing electrical systems for commercial buildings
- Experience with design of power distribution, lighting, and special systems
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit MEP
- Knowledge of applicable codes in project jurisdictions
- EIT required
- P.E. license in Texas is a plus
- Experience with RFI responses, PCR reviews, site visits
- Familiarity with fire alarm, public address, and sound reinforcement systems
- Strong client communication and ability to manage/mentor junior staff
- Ability to coordinate information across disciplines to ensure deliverables meet client expectations
- Experience with MS Office, COMcheck, SKM for Short Circuit, Voltage Drop, and Electrical Breaker Sizing
- Familiarity with plumbing, mechanical systems, and structured cabling is preferred but not required
- Experience with design calculations and photometric design programs
