Job Summary
Perform electrical engineering design for new construction, renovation, and tenant improvement projects, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage system designs. Develop load analysis calculations, equipment sizing, and panel schedules while utilizing AutoCAD and Revit to produce coordinated engineering drawings. Coordinate designs with architects and mechanical engineers, participate in site visits and construction administration, and review shop drawings and RFIs. Assist project managers with schedules and budgets, contribute to quality assurance reviews, and prepare technical specifications. Based in Dallas, TX (Austin available), this role supports commercial, healthcare, and institutional facilities within WSP's Property & Buildings team.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or equivalent engineering discipline
- 3 to 5 years of relevant electrical engineering experience in building systems design
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe
- Experience designing electrical systems for commercial, institutional, healthcare, civic, mixed-use, or similar building projects
- Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), energy codes, and applicable industry standards
- Experience preparing construction documents using Revit and AutoCAD
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a multidisciplinary team environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Proven commitment to workplace safety and quality
Desired Qualifications
- Experience supporting higher education projects
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward licensure
- Experience with electrical system studies, lighting controls, emergency power systems, and sustainable design initiatives
- Familiarity with BIM coordination and integrated project delivery methods
- LEED accreditation or other sustainability-related credentials
- Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
