Electrical Engineer - Anchorage, AK

Job Summary

Develop electrical design standards and instrumentation for hydrocarbon plant projects, including developing field and control room specifications and interfacing with multidiscipline engineers. Coordinate digital control systems installations, provide input to P&ID drawings, and select major equipment and materials while ensuring compliance with applicable codes and regulations. Support fabrication and installation phases by verifying engineering documents and providing technical direction to other engineers and drafters. Evaluate new technologies to resolve process and safety problems and implement online analyzers and expert systems software. This full-time, non-rotational role is located at NANA Worley headquarters in Anchorage, AK. Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and experience in the oil and gas industry.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, control systems, fire protection, or related engineering field from an ABET-accredited institution
  • Minimum of 2 years of work experience
  • Oil and gas industry experience
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of managers, client, or employees of organization
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral, diagram or schedule form
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook
  • Working knowledge of current versions of AutoCAD design software
  • Ability to occasionally be exposed to work near moving mechanical parts
  • Ability to occasionally work in high, precarious places while working in the field
  • Ability to occasionally travel overnight (or longer) to remote work locations

Desired Qualifications

  • Engineer in Training certificate (EIT) or passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam
  • PE license
  • Experience with or education in engineering for Cold regions or Arctic conditions
  • Hydrocarbons industry experience
  • Alaska North Slope Oil and Gas industry experience
  • ISA certifications in Instrumentation and Controls
  • NICET certifications in Fire Protection system design
  • Alaska State Fire Marshal fire system design permits
