Job Summary
Support sustainment engineering for fielded unmanned aircraft electrical systems, including air vehicles and ground control stations, by conducting root cause analysis and executing Engineering Change Orders. Update schematics, drawings, and documentation to reflect approved changes while integrating new components and resolving obsolescence issues. Assist with troubleshooting system-level issues, limited circuit board design updates, and validation of test plans against requirements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams on design reviews, manufacturing support, and technical documentation preparation. This full-time, on-site role in Madison, Alabama requires occasional travel for testing and field support.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles including analog, digital, and power systems
- Ability to read and develop wiring diagrams and schematics
- Strong troubleshooting and hands-on debug skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must be a U.S. Person as defined by ITAR regulations and able to access ITAR and CUI (Controlled Unclassified Information)
- Willingness to travel occasionally to support flight test
- Ability to work at a desk or bench for extended periods
- Capable of lifting and handling electronic equipment and assemblies
- Full-time, on-site position in Madison, Alabama
- Standard business hours with flexibility required to meet project deadlines
- US CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED
- Yes, ability to gain and maintain a Secret clearance
Desired Qualifications
- 0-5 years of electrical, electronics, or avionics engineering experience; relevant internship, co-op, or academic project experience considered
- Exposure to avionics, flight controls, or UAS/UAV systems
- Experience with schematic capture and/or PCB layout tools (Altium, Eagle, OrCAD, or similar)
- Familiarity with communication links, telemetry, or RF systems
- Hands-on lab experience: soldering, wiring harness fabrication, bench testing
- Experience with avionics, flight control systems, or autopilot systems
- Knowledge of power distribution systems, battery management, and energy storage
- Experience with RF systems, antennas, telemetry, or communications systems
- Familiarity with DO-160, MIL-STD-461, or other aerospace electrical standards
- Exposure to embedded systems development and hardware-software integration
- Experience with MATLAB, Python, or other engineering analysis tools
