Job Summary
Investigate, troubleshoot, and solve electrical engineering issues for new and existing power plant systems. Prepare and review detailed calculations for three-phase AC and DC power studies, short circuits, voltage drops, and protective relay settings. Develop project work plans, prepare engineering documentation for drawing production, and perform independent reviews of calculations and drawings. Assist the engineering lead in ensuring projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget. Serve as a firm/client liaison while utilizing modern tools and automation to improve workflows and deliver cost-effective designs.
Required Qualifications
- A BSEE degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program
- 3 or more years of experience in the design of electrical engineering systems in a project team environment with a focus on integrated, detailed system design for new plants, or modifications or replacements for existing plants; experience should include the selection of equipment, materials, control philosophy, and the preparation and assembling of calculations and specifications
- Experience is required with electrical system design including medium and low voltage distribution systems (transformers, generators, motors), equipment selection, and analytical calculations
- Experience in reviewing design drawings created by others
- Effective critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Effective working in teams and individual work
- Detail oriented approach to work
Desired Qualifications
- PE license
- MSEE
- Construction and start-up experience a plus
- Programming or scripting (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate calculations, design checks, reporting, or data transformation
