Job Summary
Conduct design, modification, and analysis of new and existing power plant electrical systems by investigating, troubleshooting, and solving engineering issues. Prepare and review detailed calculations for three phase AC and DC power studies, short circuit, voltage drop, motor starting, and protective relay settings. Assist the electrical engineering lead in ensuring projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget while developing project work plans. Perform independent reviews of work performed by others, including calculations and drawing preparation. This hybrid role requires three days of in-office work per week. Candidates must possess a BS in Electrical Engineering and experience with medium and low voltage distribution systems. The team drives the future of clean, carbon-free energy through nuclear engineering, design, and licensing for small modular reactors and advanced reactor technology.
Required Qualifications
- A BS degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program
- 3 or more years of experience in the design of electrical engineering systems in a project team environment with a focus on integrated, detailed system design for new plants, or modifications or replacements for existing plants; experience should include the selection of equipment, materials, control philosophy, and the preparation and assembling of calculations and specifications
- Experience is required with electrical system design including medium and low voltage distribution systems (transformers, generators, motors), equipment selection, and analytical calculations
- Experience is required with serving as firm/client liaison in a support or lead engineering role
- Experience is required with reviewing design drawings created by others
- Effective critical thinking and problem solving skills

- Detail oriented approach to work
- This position is based on a hybrid work schedule and will require in-office work 3 days per week
Desired Qualifications
- PE license
- MSEE
- Construction and start-up experience
- Programming or scripting (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate calculations, design checks, reporting, or data transformation
- Additional learning, such as a minor, certificate, or other training in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields that helps you apply automation or agentic AI to real engineering problems
