Job Summary
Develop electrical power distribution, lighting, and control system designs for industrial and commercial facilities using AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM tools. Produce detailed CAD drawings, single-line diagrams, panel schedules, and device layouts while applying NEC standards to ensure code compliance and safety. Perform lighting design and photometric analysis, then design and document PLC-based control systems integrating Allen-Bradley PLCs and Fanuc robots. Coordinate with project engineers and other disciplines to resolve clashes, incorporate field feedback, and prepare technical documentation including RFIs and as-built updates for construction teams. This contract role supports the installation, commissioning, and long-term operation of high-performance electrical systems across Ohio.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience as an Electrical Designer in industrial or commercial projects, preferably in a contract or consulting environment
- Strong hands-on proficiency with AutoCAD for electrical drafting and documentation
- Practical experience with Revit or other BIM tools for coordinated electrical modeling
- Solid working knowledge of NEC and its application to power distribution, lighting, and control systems
- Demonstrated capability in lighting design and photometric analysis using appropriate software tools
- Experience designing PLC-based control systems, including Allen-Bradley platforms
- Familiarity with integrating and specifying Fanuc robots within automated systems
- Ability to interpret engineering specifications, equipment data, and field information to produce accurate designs
- Associate degree or technical diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology, Drafting/Design, or a related field
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline preferred
- Relevant coursework or certification in NEC application and electrical design strongly beneficial
- Training or certification in AutoCAD and/or Revit/BIM platforms preferred
- Additional vendor-specific training with Allen-Bradley PLCs or Fanuc robots is an advantage
- Experience with industrial automation networks (EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet, or similar)
- Exposure to process or manufacturing environments with robotics and material handling systems
- Knowledge of energy-efficient lighting technologies and controls (e.g., occupancy sensing, daylight harvesting)
- Experience coordinating with contractors during installation and commissioning phases
- Ability to support basic PLC programming or troubleshooting in collaboration with controls engineers
