Job Summary
Electrical Designer skilled at creating and maintaining electrical drawing packages for low- and medium-voltage power distribution equipment, including single-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, panel/equipment layouts, and BOMs. Uses CAD tools (SolidWorks Electrical 3D, SolidWorks Electrical Schematic, SOLIDWORKS PDM) to generate manufacturing- and customer-facing documentation, route wires in 3D, develop standardized symbol libraries, and ensure designs meet customer requirements and production needs. Collaborates with engineering, project management, purchasing, quality, and manufacturing to support BOM alignment, change management, and release of documents; adheres to applicable UL and industry standards and delivers production-ready designs. Minimum 2 years of relevant experience and proficiency with electromechanical design platforms is required.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience creating electrical drawing packages for industrial control, power distribution equipment (switchgear, switchboards, PDUs, panelboards, ATS/STS) or similar engineered electrical assemblies
- Experience with SolidWorks Electrical 3D wire routing and/or AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, Autodesk Inventor Cable and Harness / Inventor Electrical or comparable electromechanical electrical-design platforms
- Experience supporting drawing revisions, BOM development, and manufacturing change implementation in a production environment
- Experience with PDM, PLM, ERP, or similar data management tools, including file check-in/check-out, revision control, transition states, BOM data, and released drawing/document management
- Familiarity with UL and industry requirements (e.g., UL 891, UL 1558) and producing manufacturing-ready documentation
- Ability to interpret customer drawings, specifications, and electrical requirements and translate into company design standards
- Proven collaboration across engineering, project management, purchasing, quality, and manufacturing to resolve design questions and implement changes
