Electrical Designer III

Job Summary

Interpret project scope, specifications, and design criteria to produce electrical design deliverables including MCC single-line diagrams, power distribution drawings, cable schedules, and grounding plans. Perform engineering calculations for voltage drop, conduit fill, wire sizing, and motor control center loading requirements. Coordinate design activities throughout the project lifecycle by collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, communicating scope changes, and supporting project scheduling. Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and field verification, including reviewing contractor submittals and responding to RFIs. Assist with cost estimating, material take-offs, and procurement documentation while ensuring designs comply with the National Electrical Code and industry standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Engineering Technology, Computer-Aided Drafting, or related technical field
  • Minimum 5–7 years of relevant industrial experience in electrical and instrumentation drafting and design
  • Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
  • Proficiency with: AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant 3D, Revit, Navisworks, Elecdes, A612/32, DIALux, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access)
  • Strong understanding of electrical and instrumentation materials and construction practices
  • Familiarity with power distribution systems, motor control systems, substations, and industrial electrical installations
  • Knowledge of company and industry drafting standards and best practices
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams and multiple office locations
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality deliverables
  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods
  • Willingness to travel for field verification, site assessments, and construction support activities

Desired Qualifications

  • EPC, power generation, utility, or industrial project experience
