Electrical Designer II - Substation P&C

Job Summary
Support the design and development of high-voltage substation Protection & Control systems for AIS and GIS substations by preparing and revising P&C design drawings, including single-line, three-line diagrams, DC schematics, wiring diagrams, and communication schematics. Ensure all deliverables comply with industry standards such as IEEE, NERC, NEC, and NESC while performing redlines and updates based on engineering markups. Assist engineers with design packages, coordinate with internal teams for cohesive project execution, and participate in QA/QC reviews. Provide support for field activities including site visits, FATs, and as-built documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Design, Engineering Technology, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in substation design, particularly in Protection & Control systems
- Experience developing P&C drawings for high-voltage substations
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar design software
- Familiarity with substation components including relays, batteries, chargers, control panels, and SCADA interfaces
- Knowledge of applicable industry standards including IEEE, NEC, and NESC
- Ability to interpret and apply engineering markups and redlines into finalized design drawings
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality deliverables
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook
