Electrical Design Engineer – Traffic Surveillance (ONSITE)

Job Summary

Develop and analyze electrical hardware requirements for CNS sustainment products, including legacy and next-generation aviation systems. Manage component obsolescence identification and mitigation while designing, debugging, and testing digital and mixed-signal circuits using tools like LT Spice or HyperLynx. Create schematics, oversee PCB layouts, and conduct electrical tests with lab equipment to ensure designs meet specified requirements. Collaborate with Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, and Manufacturing teams to support product certification and ensure robust, testable designs. This onsite role in Melbourne, Florida, supports the traffic surveillance hardware development group within Collins Aerospace's avionics division.

Required Qualifications

  • U.S. Person (lawful permanent resident, U.S. citizen, U.S. national, refugee, or asylee status)
  • Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
  • Less than 2 years prior relevant experience
  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques commonly used in electrical development engineering
  • Experience with common simulation platforms such as LT Spice, HyperLynx, etc.

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with avionics
  • Experience working with embedded processors or FPGAs
  • Experience with RF designs
  • Experience with requirements development
  • Familiarity with simulation & analysis tools (e.g. MATLAB, Simulink)
  • Experience with Schematic capture and layout tools, such as Mentor Graphics DX Designer
  • Experience with major types of lab test equipment (O-scopes, pattern generators, power supplies, spectrum analyzers, etc.)
