Job Summary
Electrical Design Engineer to provide remote design, drafting, and technical documentation support for a Queensland-based electrical design and construct contractor. Responsible for preparing electrical drawings, shop drawings, lighting and power layouts, single line diagrams, schedules (switchboard, cable), engineering calculations (lighting, cable sizing, voltage drop), and as-built documentation; manage RFIs and coordination with Australian project teams; ensure QA and adherence to project requirements and Australian standards; collaborate remotely via Teams and shared documents with emphasis on delivering accurate engineering documentation for construction and sign-off.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
- Strong ability to read, interpret, and coordinate complex construction drawings and electrical specifications
- Sound understanding of low-voltage electrical distribution systems and associated design principles
- High attention to detail with a commitment to producing accurate and professional engineering documentation
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills aligned with Australian professional standards
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in a remote environment while managing competing project priorities and deadlines
- Availability to maintain sufficient overlap with Queensland business hours to support collaboration with the Australian team
- Working knowledge of Australian Standards, including AS/NZS 3000 and AS/NZS 3008, is highly regarded
- Experience producing electrical contractor shop drawings is highly regarded
- Exposure to commercial, industrial, healthcare, education, infrastructure, or multi-residential projects is advantageous
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
- Equivalent practical experience in electrical design engineering will also be considered
