Electrical Design Engineer - Contractor

Job Summary

Design and develop advanced electrical schematics and control systems for complex equipment in harsh environments. Analyse, verify, and optimise electrical designs to ensure performance, reliability, and compliance with relevant standards. Generate technical requirements, select suitable cables and protective devices, and provide input on component selection and system configuration. Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and maintain comprehensive documentation in line with engineering procedures. On-site presence is required 4 days a week initially, reducing to a minimum of 2 days per week after the 3-month induction period. This contract role is assessed as Inside IR35 and requires British nationality to meet security vetting standards.

Required Qualifications

  • HNC or higher in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
  • Proven experience in electrical design and system specification
  • Good working knowledge of relevant electrical standards and regulations
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and engineering documentation tools
  • Experience in schematic capture and reviewing electrical drawings
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • A flexible, solutions-oriented engineering approach
  • Must meet security vetting requirements relevant to the role
  • Must be British nationals

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in the design of electrical systems for defence or industrial applications
  • Familiarity with Zuken E3
  • Knowledge of electronics, control systems, or signal processing
