Job Summary
Electrical & Controls Principal Engineer (OT) leads high-complexity automation, controls, and infrastructure projects across multiple manufacturing sites. Responsible for electrical design, control systems, automation platforms, and system integration from concept through startup, including capital planning, scope definition, cost estimating, procurement, commissioning, validation, and closeout. Shapes OT strategy, partners with cross-functional teams and external engineering resources, and drives safety and manufacturing reliability while delivering scalable, innovative engineering solutions. Demonstrates deep expertise in electrical engineering, control systems, and industrial data platforms (SCADA/MES/Historian/SQL), with experience leading capital projects, managing budgets, and guiding technology directions in a manufacturing environment.
Required Qualifications
- 8-12 years of engineering and/or operations experience in a manufacturing environment (CPG/food & beverage or discrete manufacturing preferred)
- Strong expertise in electrical, instrumentation, and control systems, including industrial power distribution and automation platforms
- Proven ability to manage engineering projects, priorities, and resources with alignment to business objectives
- Experience managing capital and expense budgets, including financial planning, forecasting, and cost control
- Experience with rotating equipment, elevated work areas, and varying plant conditions
- Advanced knowledge of Rockwell Automation control systems, hardware, and related technologies
- Experience applying and interpreting NEC, ANSI, IEC, NEMA, NFPA standards
- Working knowledge of ISA-S88 and PackML standards
- Experience with manufacturing data systems (SCADA, MES, Historian, SQL, etc.)
- Ability to read, interpret, and troubleshoot P&IDs, electrical schematics, and technical drawings
- Experience supporting or leading packaging equipment and manufacturing systems (preferred)
- Experience managing external engineering firms, system integrators, equipment suppliers, and construction contractors
- Ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously with balance of technical requirements, budgets, and schedules
- Experience delivering complex capital projects from concept through commissioning and startup
- Strong leadership presence and communication skills to senior leadership and non-technical stakeholders
