Electrical & Controls Engineer

Job Summary

Manage and execute electrical and controls projects, including automation upgrades, equipment integration, process control enhancements, and infrastructure modifications, from planning to implementation. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify automation requirements and oversee the design, programming, and optimization of electrical and control systems to ensure efficiency, reliability, and safety. Design, develop, and maintain PLC and HMI programs while working with vendors to procure necessary automation equipment and components. Be present on the production floor to identify improvement opportunities and provide hands-on technical support for troubleshooting automation issues. Stay current with industry trends and actively participate in continuous improvement activities. Full-time schedule with a compensation range of $110,000.00 - $130,000.00.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, controls engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum of 7 years of electrical/controls engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully managing electrical or controls-related projects
  • Proven experience in project management, including planning, budgeting, and execution
  • Proven ability to lead project teams successfully and respectfully
  • Strong technical knowledge of industrial automation, controls systems, PLCs, HMIs, drives, sensors, and power distribution
  • Experience with programming and troubleshooting PLCs and other industrial control systems
  • Familiarity with industrial networks and communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, etc.)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex issues and develop effective solutions
  • Exceptional organizational skills with keen attention to detail
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Office 365, and Microsoft Project

Desired Qualifications

  • 10+ years preferred
  • Experience with AutoCAD Electrical or other electrical design software
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and standards related to electrical safety, automation, and environmental compliance (e.g., NFPA 70E, NEC, OSHA)
  • Knowledge of World Class Manufacturing (WCM) principles and/or other continuous improvement methodologies
  • Knowledge of rubber and/or polymer processing, including mixing, extrusion, curing, and foaming
  • Knowledge of SAP project/asset management module
  • Ability to excel in a cross-cultural, global team environment
  • Can work independently and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
