Job Summary
Electrical/Control Systems Engineer II responsible for designing electrical control panels and systems to meet project specifications; configuring PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA; leading field commissioning and startup; troubleshooting real-time issues across automation hardware, software, and networks; collaborating with project managers, engineers, contractors, and end users; providing field service and post-installation support; redlining drawings and documenting commissioning activities; travel 30-60% regionally and nationally; on-site work at the Birmingham, AL office; requires experience with Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider, GE, VTScada, Ignition, and knowledge of UL508A, NEC, IEEE.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Instrumentation, or related field — or equivalent hands-on experience
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in automation design, programming, startup, service, or commissioning roles
- Proficiency in PLC/HMI/SCADA systems such as Rockwell (Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View), Siemens, Schneider, GE, VTScada, Ignition, etc.
- Strong understanding of industrial networks: Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus TCP, serial protocols, and wireless communications.
- Ability to interpret P&IDs, single-line diagrams, and electrical schematics.
- Field-ready attitude, with excellent problem-solving skills and a commitment to safety.
- Comfortable working in industrial, municipal, or water/wastewater environments.
- Strong interpersonal skills and customer service mindset.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel frequently.
