Electrical Component Engineer I

Job Summary

Support the selection, evaluation, and lifecycle management of electronic components by collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure parts meet technical specifications, quality standards, and project timelines. Communicate with suppliers to resolve component issues, negotiate terms, and establish reliable supply chains while assisting with population and maintenance of the component database. Troubleshoot component issues with design, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams to support new product introductions and optimize designs for manufacturability and cost. Evaluate the impact of electronic components, identify potential solutions, and execute testing for Product Change Notices, End of Life, and Value Analysis. Perform basic reliability and failure analyses including MTBF calculations, FTA, FMEA, and DRBFM. Requires on-site work at Gentex facilities; Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering required.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a related field
  • Familiarity with electronic components, circuit analysis, and simulation tools
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Location: This position requires on-site work at Gentex facilities
  • This role is not eligible for remote work
  • 1+ years of relevant professional work experience
  • Working knowledge of relevant industry standards and specifications (e.g., AEC-Q100, IATF 16949)

  • Attention to detail - Ensuring information is complete and accurate; following up with others to ensure that agreements and commitments have been fulfilled
