Job Summary
Electrical Commissioning Lead for Data Centers responsible for leading the commissioning of large data center projects, acting as SME to ensure commissioning standards and QC processes are followed, developing SOPs/MOPs, preparing comprehensive test plans and reports, and coordinating with clients, contractors, vendors, and owners’ agents. The role involves guiding a team of commissioning engineers and project managers, progressing into technical management within 6-18 months, overseeing testing of systems such as fire alarm, HVAC, Chillers, CRAC units, electrical distributions (UPS, standby generators), and emergency lighting; ensuring integrated system testing, load bank testing, and thorough documentation. Requires 5-10+ years in electrical/mechanical commissioning, a BS/AS degree in engineering (preferred), strong communication skills, familiarity with IEEE/ASHRAE procedures, and ability to travel up to 50% (closer to 10-20% if based near a major data center). This is a full-time role based in Cedar Rapids, IA with onsite responsibilities and remote coordination as needed.
Required Qualifications
- 5 to 10+ years experience in Electrical/Mechanical Commissioning
- Bachelor's or Associate Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering (a plus)
- A/E experience in complex facilities or mission-critical projects
- Previous Data Center / Mission Critical experience required
- Excellent written and verbal communication, client interaction
- Experience with Level 1-5 commissioning
- Experience managing commissioning teams and developing plans for large-scale projects
- Experience with IEEE/ASHRAE procedures and protocols a plus
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Microsoft Project
- Military/veteran experience in related electrical/mechanical roles a plus
- Willingness to travel up to 50% (more for multiple projects)
- Must live near a major airport
