Job Summary
Create and modify detailed 2D and 3D electrical drawings, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, schematics, and cable schedules. Develop 3D models of electrical equipment and facility layouts while interpreting design specifications to convert them into CAD drawings. Maintain drawing files, ensure code compliance, coordinate with other disciplines to resolve conflicts, and perform field visits for site verification. Assist with redlines, document control, and deliverable reviews. Mentor junior drafters and occasionally lead small drafting teams.
Required Qualifications
- A.A.S. Degree in Electrical Drafting & Design or related technical field
- 3+ years of relevant experience in electrical CAD drafting/design
- Advanced proficiency in AutoDesk 3D products
- Understanding electrical symbols, schematics, PLCs, control systems, panel design, hazardous area, and grounding
- Solid understanding of construction processes, design documentation, and drafting quality control
- Strong mathematical skills and the ability to perform design-related calculations
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Willingness to learn, take initiative, and collaborate in a team environment
- Must be available for hybrid and remote work arrangements
- Must be willing to travel to office locations in Duluth, MN, Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN, Omaha, NE, Nashville, TN, Pittsburgh, PA, Houston, TX, Traverse City, MI, or remote
Desired Qualifications
- Skillset in electrical modeling software: Elecdes and/or AutoCAD Plant 3D is a plus
