Job Summary
Conduct on-site visual condition assessments of electrical systems, including switchgear, transformers, panels, and fire alarm systems, to identify deficiencies, estimate remaining useful life, and document findings with detailed notes and photographs. Coordinate with structural and architectural assessors to build a complete building-level narrative. Capture and manage field data using GFT-provided devices, SharePoint, and standardized reporting tools while responding to quality review comments. Maintain safe work practices and comply with site protocols throughout the five boroughs of New York City. This hourly, as-needed role supports fluctuating project demands with compensation based on assigned hours.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years' relevant field experience evaluating electrical systems in buildings of various size and use
- Ability to identify typical failure modes and condition indicators for electrical components
- Strong documentation skills; ability to communicate technical findings clearly
- Willingness and ability to travel throughout the 5 boroughs for field assessments
- PE license (Electrical) or equivalent advanced technical credential/experience
- Proficiency with field technology, including mobile data collection tools, SharePoint-based workflows, and structured reporting platforms
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven field environment with changing project needs and schedules
- Ability to remain fully engaged during field assignments, with focused attention on inspections, documentation, and project requirements throughout scheduled field time
- GFT-provided devices, GFT SharePoint, and standardized assessment application tools to collect, organize, upload, and manage field findings
- Respond to Quality Review comments on your post-field data entry and submission to streamline final reporting
- Maintain safe work practices and comply with all site requirements and installation protocols
- GFT does require the successful completion of a criminal background check for all advertised positions
Desired Qualifications
- Experience performing facility condition assessments, property condition assessments, engineering evaluations, commissioning reviews, asset management surveys, or similar building system evaluations
- Candidates must be capable of recognizing system deficiencies, identifying deferred maintenance, estimating remaining useful life, assessing operational condition, and supporting repair and replacement recommendations
- Experience documenting findings using mobile field technology and standardized assessment methodologies is highly desirable
