Job Summary
Electrical Apprentice 1 works under the direct supervision of an Electrical Journeyworker to learn and become proficient in the duties of an Electrician. Shows support to other Electricians in the maintenance, operation and repair of electrical systems and assists with and performs installation and maintenance tasks to ensure safe operation of various electrical equipment. Learns to read, interpret, and execute drawings, schematics, blueprints, and electrical code specifications; tests electrical equipment for continuity, current, voltage and resistance; installs and repairs motors, drives, wiring, panels, conduits, lighting, generators and batteries; performs preventive maintenance and testing; collaborates with crew members; and may travel frequently. Required certifications/licenses include MN Registered Unlicensed Electrician, OSHA 10/30, First Aid/CPR, Blood Borne Pathogens; preferred is 2-year trade school and valid driver’s license.
Required Qualifications
- 0 – 2000 provable hours of experience as an Electrical Apprentice
- Ability and interest in learning the electrician trade and willingness to attend and perform coursework for in-person and online apprenticeship classes
- Ability and interests in learning to read and comprehend schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications
- Ability to keep an organized workspace
- Ability to work underground, inside buildings or on rooftops
- 100% travel, may include out of state travel and overnight stays
- Basic understanding of electricity
- Skilled in organization and problem-solving
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to communicate professionally and clearly
