Job Summary

Develop a productive research program that engages students and produces high-quality publications in digital systems, embedded cyber-physical systems, or AI hardware. Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in areas of specialization, lower-division fundamentals, and curriculum development. Contribute to graduate teaching and research mentorship within the M.S. and Ph.D. programs while serving the department, school, university, and the profession. Join the SCU ECE faculty starting September 1, 2027, to leverage the Silicon Valley ecosystem for impactful industry collaborations and establish new research laboratories in state-of-the-art facilities.

Required Qualifications

  • A Ph.D. in electrical and computer engineering or a closely related field
  • A demonstrated research track record or strong research potential, including high-quality journal publications
  • A commitment and demonstrated potential to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and to engage in curriculum development
  • A commitment to contribute to a diverse and inclusive academic culture
  • Candidates should have academic, industry, or other research experience
  • Candidates should be able to articulate plans for future impactful research in their areas of interest
  • Candidates should be able to articulate an plan for engaging with a diverse student body through teaching, research, service, and mentorship
  • The ability to collaborate with faculty across multiple disciplines
  • An interest in leveraging the Silicon Valley ecosystem to build impactful collaborations with industry

Desired Qualifications

  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas: embedded and cyber-physical systems, computer architecture, digital IC design, verification, and synthesis, Systems-on-Chip (SoC), memory systems and storage, AI hardware and systems, design automation, robotics and automation, connected and intelligent transportation systems, secure/trustworthy systems, or other emerging areas of research related to digital electronics and/or computer hardware
  • Excellent research promise
  • A demonstrated track record
  • An interest in promoting the university's values of inclusive excellence
  • A commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate and graduate levels in areas related to traditional and emerging areas in electrical and computer engineering
  • The ability to teach lower division courses
