Job Summary
Electric Service Worker 1st Class in Dominion Energy’s Electric Distribution Operations (Peninsula Office, Hampton, VA). Responsibilities include repair and maintenance of overhead and underground electrical distribution lines; serving as first responder to power outages; operating largely independently (approximately 90% of the time) with rotating shifts and callouts during outages or storm events; working within the Dominion service territory and coordinating with Regional Operations Centers. Requires ability to lift 75 lbs, knowledge of safety and switching practices, and obtaining a Class A CDL by the end of month 5. Competitive starting rate: $51.91/hour with eligibility for overtime premium. Health benefits and comprehensive benefits package offered.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in overhead and underground electrical line work (partial year >= 6 months counts as one year)
- Ability to pass competency level 4 in Dominion Lineman Development program in overhead and underground energized line work
- Must be able to lift 75lbs
- Must understand switching practices related to the electrical distribution industry
- Must have strong verbal and written communications
- Must be able to obtain a valid Class A CDL by the end of the 5th month of employment
- Ability to work rotating shifts and respond to callouts/outages
- Must meet/maintain applicable NERC/FERC requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- No visa sponsorship available for this position
- Weight restriction below 290 pounds for safety
- Preferred: completion of a recognized Line Worker Development program
- Military service members and veterans considered with appropriate experience
