Job Summary
Troubleshoot and diagnose complex operational failures of generator sets, related equipment, or industrial engines. Use medium voltage and reactive load bank equipment for testing and repairs, including megger, vibration, stack, and span gas testing. Install and commission large genset units with complex ATS, perform heavy electrical repairs, alignments, and engine overhauls. Determine corrective actions through failed part inspection, order replacement parts efficiently, and document all work and repairs accurately. Maintain work areas, tools, and equipment to ensure a clean and safe environment. Perform other related duties as assigned, including travel out of town to meet customer demands.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of three years relevant Electrical Power Generation (EPG)/electronics field experience
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license
- Excellent driving record and the ability to obtain a CDL and/or DOT certification
- Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Excellent mechanical aptitude
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to interact professionally with customers and all of levels of personnel within the organization
- Strong communicator with excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Self-directed and well organized
- Willingness to work additional hours as required and travel out of town, including out of the country to meet customers' demands
- Proficiency in the use of technical software, databases and manuals
- Regularly required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear
- Regularly lift and/or more up to 70 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
