Job Summary
In-Shop Technician role focused on rewinding and testing electromechanical equipment. Responsibilities include rewinding various kinds of basic electromechanical equipment, dismantling damaged equipment, inspecting for winding damage, recording data on electromagnetic characteristics and operating conditions, preparing reusable parts for rewinding, stripping stator or apparatus without core damage, and testing rewound equipment according to EASA Standards with documented results. Requires 5+ years’ experience in rewinding AC/DC motors, proficiency with windings, armatures, and synchronous rotor poles, ability to read and follow instructions, perform basic math, and operate relevant machinery and hoists. Emphasizes safety, quality, data documentation, and adherence to procedures; seeks a candidate who values integrity, teamwork, customer focus, and continuous learning. The role is positioned as mid-level with the potential to scale based on skills and experience, within IPS’s North America and UK operations.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in rewinding AC and DC electric motors
- Prior practice in winding fields, armatures, and synchronous rotor poles
- Ability to perform basic math functions including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division including understanding fractions
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple to moderately complex written and verbal instructions
- Ability to understand, perform, and retain various job-related training, operational, and safety procedures
- Ability to operate and perform VPI
- Ability to exercise initiative, judgment, and decision making related to routine duties within set company standards
- Ability to operate machinery and hoists
- Physical ability to stand, stoop, kneel, and bend for prolonged periods of time
- Ability to lift, push, pull, carry items up to 50 lbs.
