Job Summary
The Electric Machine Test Engineer position focuses on supporting Product Verification & Validation (PV&V) activities for electric machines. This role encompasses planning and executing testing tasks, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring machine designs meet essential standards for safety and reliability.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years working with rotating components, electric machines, or electric motor testing.
- Hands-on experience with electric motors, inverters, and general electrification testing.
- Proficiency with data acquisition and instrumentation (accelerometers, thermistors, current transducers, VNAs).
- Strong verbal & written communication skills.
- Ability to travel up to 25% (driving + flying to various labs).
- Experience with Windchill and Creo (or willingness to learn).
- Ability to perform or support basic non-standard tests and develop test fixtures.
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of electric drive components (inverters, connectors, energy storage)
- Understanding of electric machine analytical design (load evaluation, electromagnetics, cooling, materials)
- Experience collaborating across teams and sharing technical knowledge
- Familiarity with accelerated test methods
- Ability to work independently and provide technical guidance when needed
- Experience managing engineering projects for cost, time, and quality
- Virtual verification experience
- 2+ years experience using VISION for PV&V planning, scheduling, ACR charting, and activity creation
- EMC/EMI knowledge
