Job Summary
Journeyman Lineman performing skilled electric utility maintenance and construction for the City of Batavia Electric Division. Duties include working on overhead and underground primary/secondary distributions, street lighting, and fiber optic systems; installing components, testing cables and lines; operating and maintaining heavy equipment; responding to after-hours emergencies and 7/24 on-call needs; maintaining safety standards and providing customer service within a union-benefit environment. Requires completion of an approved apprenticeship and a Journeyman card, plus a valid Class A CDL within specified timelines; candidate must reside within 16 miles of Batavia within one year. Work is on-site with a typical schedule Monday–Friday 7:00 AM–3:30 PM, with additional overtime as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED plus completion of approved apprenticeship program
- Possession of a valid Journeyman Lineman’s card from the Union recognized by the City
- Possession of a valid Illinois Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or ability to obtain within one year
- Must reside within 16 miles of Batavia city limits within one year of employment
