Job Summary
The Electrical Groundsman supports the Town’s Electrical Department in the installation, maintenance, and repair of the electric distribution system. This role assists Linemen with overhead and underground line work, service connections for residential and commercial customers, and limited substation maintenance. Responsibilities include assisting with setting poles, pulling and splicing wire, installing and repairing transformers, and performing related tasks in both energized and de-energized environments. Duties also cover stocking protective equipment for linemen, operating work vehicles, keeping work areas organized, loading materials, and providing general support to all Public Works activities as directed. The position requires a High School Diploma or Equivalent and possession of a valid North Carolina Class B CDL, with potential for nights, weekends, and holidays and occasional callbacks in inclement weather. Drug testing is required per Town policy.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 18 years old
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Possession of a valid North Carolina Class B CDL
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic (add, subtract, multiply, divide, percentages)
