Election Protection Organizer

Job Summary

Conduct community outreach through canvassing, phone and text banking, and one-on-one meetings to build a base committed to protecting voting rights. Recruit, train, and schedule community leaders and election-protection volunteers while coordinating polling-place assignments with coalition partners. Facilitate nonpartisan election-protection workshops and distribute approved educational toolkits in English and Spanish. Monitor sources for reports of voter intimidation or barriers, document incidents, and refer potential legal violations to authorized counsel. Represent the organization in the Election Protection Arizona coalition and organize town halls and advocacy events. Maintain accurate records of outreach, volunteers, and program results using approved digital tools while adhering to strict nonpartisan protocols and safety guidelines.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least two years of experience in community organizing, advocacy, civic engagement, voting-rights work, or related movement work
  • Experience facilitating workshops, trainings, public meetings, or community events
  • Fluency in English and Spanish, both written and spoken
  • Strong interpersonal, relationship-building, facilitation, and public-speaking skills
  • Ability to communicate election information accurately and in accessible language
  • Ability to learn and apply election-related procedures, policies, and escalation protocols
  • Ability to remain calm and exercise sound judgment during rapidly changing or high-pressure situations
  • Strong outreach, volunteer-management, relational-organizing, and project-management skills
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate documentation
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive voter and incident information
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, databases, social media, and mobile communication tools
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, extended hours, and election-style schedules
  • Ability to travel throughout Arizona up to approximately 50% of the time
  • Reliable transportation to assigned meetings, trainings, polling locations, events, and community activities
  • Ability to travel frequently throughout Arizona
  • Ability to drive or ride in a vehicle for extended periods when required
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during outreach, trainings, events, and election activities
  • Ability to move throughout offices, meeting venues, polling-location exteriors, event sites, and community locations
  • Ability to lift, carry, or move program and event materials weighing up to 25 pounds occasionally
  • Regular evening and weekend work
  • Extended or irregular hours
  • Must complete and maintain all training, credentials, appointments, or certifications required for assigned election-protection or poll-monitoring activities
  • Valid driver's license
  • Legally required automobile insurance
  • Acceptable driving record
  • Access to a safe and reliable vehicle

Desired Qualifications

  • College coursework or a degree in political science, public policy, law, community development, nonprofit management, or a related field
  • Experience recruiting, training, coordinating, or developing volunteers and community leaders
  • Experience supporting election protection, voter education, voter registration, poll monitoring, or voter-assistance programs
  • Experience working with Latino, immigrant, low-income, working-class, or other historically underrepresented communities
  • Experience working in coalitions or coordinating with multiple community partners
  • Experience with EveryAction, VAN, or comparable civic-engagement platforms
