Job Summary

Election Assistant (Voters Technology) will support and implement all aspects of the municipal election with responsibilities including testing voting equipment, data entry, quality assurance testing, and providing election technology training and customer service. Major duties include testing, operating and deploying voting equipment; traveling to off-site locations; loading/unloading election supplies; inventory management; assembling technology supply bags; setting up furniture and equipment; ensuring quality control of election products (ballots, voter lists, and supplies); clerical duties such as training support, data entry, photocopying/faxing, sorting; operating voting equipment and network devices; delivering in-person and phone support to voting place staff; and providing troubleshooting for election technology using Microsoft Office applications in a Windows environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience with proofreading, quality assurance, and handling supplies/equipment in warehouse or similar environment
  • Experience in customer service and team environment
  • Experience with hardware technologies and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) in Windows environment
  • Valid Ontario Driver's License (Class G) and access to personal vehicle
  • Ability to perform inventory control and quality assurance
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg) repeatedly
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines in fast-paced environment
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills with ability to work independently and in a team
  • Ability to handle confidential/sensitive information
  • Ability to perform office duties (creating/formatting documents, filing)
  • Willingness to work overtime during peak periods including evenings, holidays and weekends
  • Willingness to travel throughout the City of Toronto
  • Knowledge of equity, inclusion and accessibility
  • Election experience
