Job Summary
Directs and manages all Head Start Center operations, including development and implementation of the department budget, staffing, operations, and compliance with Federal HSPS, State Tribal, and Local policies. Leads cross-functional components such as Family & Community Partnerships, Health, Behavioral Health, Disabilities, Safety, Transitions, and Parent Involvement; coordinates funding from Federal, State, Local, Private, and Non-Profit grant sources; collaborates with Center team, Education Board, Policy Council, and Tribal Council to plan, design, implement, and evaluate systems for continuous quality improvement. Oversees program advocacy and outreach from local to national levels and ensures licensing, recordkeeping, reporting, and professional development. Requires Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years leadership experience in an educational/non-profit setting; strong problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills; travel awareness and compliance with safety and confidentiality policies.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in early Childhood Education, Education, Human Services or related field from an accredited College or University is required (MUST SUBMIT A COPY OF DEGREE TO COMPLETE APPLICATION)
- A minimum of three years professional leadership/management and supervisory experience is preferred, preferably in an educational non-profit setting
- Ability to clearly communicate orally, in writing, assertively and effectively
- Must adhere to safety, testing, and confidentiality policies; possess CPR and First Aid certifications or willingness to obtain within 30 days of employment
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; ability to operate vehicle under Mohican Nation Insurance guidelines
- Experience with budgeting, financial reporting, and program oversight; knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards and federal/state/local requirements
- Knowledge of tribal policies and community partnership development
- Ability to develop, implement, and monitor program plans, evaluate outcomes, and manage grants
